Christopher Kim has been living in Park Marconi since 2015. However, in 2021, tenants of Park Marconi were handed a notice that a new developer would be purchasing the building. Despite DC tenant protections allowing tenants to stay in their homes, many tenants understood that they would soon have to move out.

Melissa is also a former Empowered Women International board member, volunteer mentor, and trusted advisor. During our conversation, we discussed her career and professional interests and explored some of the significant transitions during the evolution of the Empowered Women International program.
Our program, EWI, is celebrating 20 years since its inception! Founded in 2002, Empowered Women International became a support network of cultural exchange for immigrant and refugee women. In the beginning, EWI provided empowerment workshops in Northern Virginia, and as it joined LEDC in 2017, the program expanded to serve over 700 women annually throughout the DMV area.

The local business owners were recognized by the Latino Economic Development Center, Bon Secours Community Works, Kaiser Permanente, and Anchor Group during a graduation ceremony on October 26 at Kirby Lane Park in Baltimore, Maryland.
