WASHINGTON, DC NONPROFIT LEADER CHOSEN FOR NATIONAL LATINO FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Washington, DC (1/31/2023) - The National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) recently announced that Sofia Darsin has been named a 2023 NALCAB Pete Garcia Community Economic Development fellow. Sofia currently serves as the Grants and Evaluations Associate at the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC).

The Pete Garcia Community Economic Development Fellowship is a year-long leadership training program for Latino leaders from around the country. This year, 18 professionals were selected for this prestigious program that aims to cultivate future Latino leaders. More information about the program can be viewed at: https://nalcab.org/services/pete-garcia-fellowship/

Established in 2010, the Fellowship was developed to ensure that next generation Latino leaders build the practical, personal, and professional skills needed to fill the increasing leadership gap in the community economic development field.  It provides mid-career Latino practitioners specialized professional development training that prepares them to become strong executive director candidates at non-profits that serve the Latino communities.

The NALCAB Pete Garcia Fellowship has graduated 169 program participants from across the country, representing 110 unique nonprofit organizations in 24 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

This year’s title program sponsor is the JPMorgan Chase Foundation with additional support from Capital One.
