Free 3-Part Workshop (IN PERSON @ LEDC OFFICE)

Empowered Women International, a program of LEDC, is pleased to offer a series of 3 workshops to help women entrepreneurs who have a business registered in DC or residing in Washington, DC, build and launch a website and/or digital store for their businesses!  

You will have an up and running website/digital store at the end of the three workshops for FREE!

This is a great opportunity to gain invaluable practical and hands-on experience and expand your knowledge. Following the three free workshops, you will be ready to grow your business and feel confident about managing its website and digital presence.  

We only offer 12 spots, and we will choose them based on the application. Please fill out the application below. The application is due Wednesday. May 4, at 11:59 pm. Participants must attend all three in-person sessions.

The workshops will be presented by Jaime Pagan, who specializes in digital marketing and Founder & CEO of Brandgoat 84, a design studio for businesses offering web and logo design and branding development services.  

EWI will grant, at NO COST, to all participants who attend all three sessions:

• 2 hours of one-on-one consultation with our Trainer (Jaime Pagan) after the workshops for follow up, valued at $320.00

• A gift card for you to purchase a domain for your business website in the first workshop.

• Shopify Basic Plan (for one month) – an e-commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems.

WHERE: The three workshops will be offered at the Latino Economic Development Center’s office in the Columbia Heights neighborhood in Washington, DC.

SESSION Dates & Details:

Session 1 –May 9 (Monday), 12:00pm to 2:00pm: Intro to the webpage process 

• Buy a domain  

• Create a Shopify account 

• Select a plan 

• Select a theme (free or paying theme) 

• Intro to the platform’s back end 

Session 2 – May 12 (Thursday), 12:00pm to 2:00pm: Creating the Website 

• Theme settings 

• Homepage 

• Product page 

• Checkout page 

• Secondary pages 

Session 3 – May 16 (Monday), 12:00pm to 2:00pm: Website Marketing 

• Social Media 

• Email 

• SMS 

Requirements to participate:  

• Be a woman, resident of Washington DC, or have your business registered in Washington DC

• Bring your laptop computer to the workshops (software updated with the last version) 

• Know your social media accounts passwords 

• Have at least 2 pictures of each product you want to add to your website

• Before Session 1, visit Shopify.com and review the page to get familiarized with what they are as a platform.
