Nicole was born in El Salvador and migrated to the United States at 8 years old with her family. After completing high school, she moved to Taiwan through a scholarship program to learn Mandarin Chinese. She pursued her bachelor’s degree at Ming Chuan University- the first U.S. Accredited University in Asia. While in studying, Nicole parallelly taught English to children and adults. With her earnings, she was able to travel to 40+ countries. This led her to discover her passion for appreciating the richness of different cultures and develop a deeper understanding on the importance of global diversity, all with the purpose of contributing to social equity and unity. Shortly after, she joined the Diplomatic Foreign Service of El Salvador and was appointed to UNESCO in Paris, where she worked for over four years advocating for equal access to quality education, safeguarding cultural heritage and protecting biodiversity.

After being abroad for 10+ years, she returned to the U.S. to join the National Diversity Council where she led partnership establishment efforts and supported organizations by providing spaces for dialogue, best practice exchanges, tools, and resources to contribute to their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion journeys.

At LEDC, Nicole serves as Director of Development, where she works alongside an inspiring team to retain and develop new valuable partnerships that support the continuous growth and impact of LEDC. Nicole is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese, which demonstrates her drive to better understand people’s stories and brings a multicultural vision to the organization.
