José Enrique Vargas’ work has been dedicated to improving the quality of life of working people through economic development, workforce development, and small business development. He was also a business developer in the residential solar industry, which offset fossil fuel use, saved consumers money, built homeowner equity, and created green jobs. His work in the independent and private sectors in the workforce development and small business development space has improved economic outcomes for many working families. Through his endeavors, he has increased employment, career development, and small business development, creating economic stability for working families and building intergenerational wealth.
Jose has a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship from UMD College Park, R.H. Smith School of Business. He is also a proud Boricua born in New York City and is married to his wife, a beloved arts educator, and administrator in the DC Public Schools. They have three children born in DC who also love the arts, and in his free time, Jose enjoys hiking, martial arts, listening to music, and experiencing different cultures.
