Homebuyer Training
Interested in buying your first home?
This class is given in English from our DC office. To take the class in Spanish, please register for a class at our MD office.
In this group workshop you will learn how to successfully navigate each step of the home-buying process in DC or Maryland and obtain a smart mortgage. You will also learn how your credit, personal budgeting, and personal finances impact your future success. LEDC invites a host of speakers --among them a loan officer, real estate agent, insurance agent, and home inspector - to provide an instructional walk-through of the homeownership process. Information will also be provided on programs to assist first-time homebuyers in DC and MD.
This training meets the requirements for lender and government programs that require first time homebuyer training. This is also a great class for people who do not qualify for assistance through the DC Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP).
(If you are a DC resident and are interested in learning whether you may qualify for HPAP assistance, sign up first for the “Orientation to First-time Home Buying and the Programs that can Help.”)
Light breakfast and lunch are provided courtesy of the speakers.
Price: $50 for one person or $75 per couple. Scholarships are available for all HPAP clients. Scholarships are also available from some banks. For clients who use the My Home Program (MD), the program will reimburse you for the cost of this class. If you are working with a lender that requires homeownership education, they will most likely pay for class.
There is no fee for personalized counseling, following the training.
