Virtual DC Homebuying Orientation

This workshop is the first step for DC Residents interested in purchasing their first home in the District. The orientation introduces the homebuying process and DC first-time homebuyer programs, such as: DC Open Doors, HPAP, EAHP, and NEAP. In DC, the Home Purchase Assistance Program (HPAP) provides up to $202,000 in down payment and $4,000 for closing costs assistance to DC residents. Attendees can find out what programs they qualify for and learn about next steps in the homebuying process.

If you are interested in applying to the HPAP, EAHP, or NEAHP programs, you must first take this orientation to get a counseling appointment:

Interested in buying your first home in Baltimore City?

This class is provided in-person. You will receive instructions once completing the intake form.

In these workshops, you will learn how to navigate the process of buying a home in Maryland, including areas such as Baltimore City, and how to get a good mortgage. You will also learn how your credit history, personal budget, and personal finances may affect your future success. LEDC invites different experts including a loan officer, home inspector, real estate agent, and insurance agent to explain the different areas of the home-buying process.

This class meets the requirements of government and lender programs that require first-time homebuyer training.

By registering for this class you agree to participate.

The individual counseling session AFTER the class is a requirement to receive your homebuyer education certificate.

Acerca de este evento 

Este Otoño, un grupo de mujeres talentosas fueron seleccionadas para participar en el programa Entrepreneur Training for Success (ETS) de Empowered Women International (EWI). 

Las clases comenzaron a fines de septiembre de 2024 con mujeres de Washington, DC. 

Cada grupo está dirigido por un capacitador de EWI y cuenta con el apoyo de un grupo de mentoras voluntarias y oradores invitados que generosamente han brindado su tiempo, experiencia y conocimientos para ayudar a nuestras Emprendedoras aprenderan los entresijos de ser propietarias de negocios. Después de 4 meses y más de 60 horas de capacitación para adquirir conocimientos, aprender herramientas y desarrollar sus planes de negocios, ¡están listas para compartir sus ideas de negocios con el mundo! 

Durante este evento, aprenderá todo sobre Empowered Women International y nuestros programas. Cada graduada del programa ETS tendrá 3 minutos para presentar su negocio en persona a la audiencia. Después de cada presentación, tendremos un panel de jueces invitados que harán preguntas exploratorias y brindarán comentarios para nuestras emprendedoras. 

Estamos muy orgullosas e impresionadas con el compromiso de las graduadas con el programa ETS! Después del evento, le enviaremos un correo electrónico con la información de contacto y los detalles de cada negocio presentado para que pueda continuar apoyándo a las emprendedoras.

The event will feature the student graduates of EWI's Entrepreneur Training for Success (ETS) program for Baltimore City, MD. This is the final event of the 3-month ETS program, where the participants will formally present their Business Pitch. 

This Fall, a group of talented women were selected to participate in Empowered Women International's (EWI) Entrepreneur Training for Success (ETS) program. Classes began in late September 2024 with women from Baltimore City, MD. 

Each cohort is led by an EWI Entrepreneurship trainer and is supported by a group of volunteer mentors and guest speakers that have generously given their time, experience, and expertise to help our entrepreneurs learn the ins and outs of business ownership. After 4 months and more than 60 hours of training to gain knowledge, acquire tools, and develop their business plans, they are ready to share their business ideas with the world! 

During the event, the ETS program graduates will pitch their business to a live audience of friends, family, community members, and judges. Guests will also have the opportunity to browse some of the graduate expo tables and interact with the entrepreneurs one-on-one. We will be awarding them certificates of completion and celebrating their accomplishments as well. 

We are so proud and impressed with the graduates’ commitment to the ETS program! Please join us in celebrating them!

The garage is open Monday – Friday, 6 am to 11 pm, and on Saturday, 7 am – 7 pm.

Financing Your Future - Virtual

This class helps attendees to understand the basic aspects of budgeting, they will gain the ability to develop and make a spending plan to meet their goals. They will understand the importance of saving, creating and emergency funds, and how to get help from local resources. In addition, attendees will understand how to manage the credit system and the importance of building a healthy credit record, to achieve financial well-being. They will gain a better understanding of terminology used by financial institutions and credit bureaus.  

This workshop includes the following topics:  

○ The importance of developing a spending plan, wise spending habits, in addition to receiving tips on how to save money. 

○ Find out about the importance of setting goals to achieve financial objectives. 

○ Identify the difference between needs and wants to achieve your financial goals. 

○ Learn how to establish a credit presence and maintain a good credit history, and how financial institutions determine creditworthiness.
