The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is a private, non-profit 50l(c)(3) community development corporation founded in 1991. LEDC's mission is to drive the economic and social advancement of low- to moderate-income Latinos and other D.C. area residents by equipping them with the skills and tools to achieve financial independence and become leaders in their communities. 

 

Position Summary 

LEDC has experienced tremendous growth in the last couple of years. To better support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) the Director of Finance at LEDC will serve a key financial leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the organization's financial activities. The Director of Finance reports directly to the CFO and plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the organization. The Director of Finance will lead a team of 4 professionals responsible for various financial functions. This is a hybrid position based in Washington DC.  

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, budgets, and other financial reports in compliance with GAAP and relevant financial regulations. 
  • Collaborate with the CFO in providing timely and accurate financial data for decision-making. 
  • Oversee the organization's general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. 
  • Ensure the proper recording of all financial transactions, reconciliations, and maintenance of financial records. 
  • Assist the CFO in ensuring compliance with federal funding regulations, including single audits, and other grant-specific requirements. 
  • Prepare and coordinate documentation for annual financial audits, including the preparation and coordination of schedules including SEFA for the A-133 audit and the annual Form 990 process. 
  • Manage and maintain financial systems and internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial operations. 
  • Lead a team of financial professionals, including but not limited to the Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable Administrator, and Accounts Receivable Specialist. 
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members. 
  • Assist in the development of the organization's annual budget in collaboration with the CFO. 
  • Monitor departmental budgets and work with department heads to ensure financial targets are met. 
  • Participates in all LEDC fundraising activities and processes, which are primarily proposal/grant based. 
  • Identify and assess financial risks and propose mitigation strategies. 
  • Identify and assess internal control and propose strategies to safeguard the organization's financial assets. 

Education and Experience Qualifications Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accounting, financial, or related field or equivalent work experience that demonstrates the requisite knowledge to perform the duties of the job 
  • A minimum of 5 years of financial management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role 
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and federal grant compliance 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities. 
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accounting, financial, or related field or equivalent work experience that demonstrates the requisite knowledge to perform the duties of the job 
  • Experience with Sage Intacct software 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) 
  • CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus 

Compensation and Benefits 

The salary range for this position is $102,472 - $123,622 annually, dependent on experience and team budget.
