About the Development and Communications Team: The Development & Communications team supports LEDC’s mission by securing resources, telling the organization’s story, and demonstrating impact. This team works across programs to develop funding proposals, steward funder relationships, track and communicate outcomes, and share the work and voices of the communities LEDC serves.

By combining fundraising, impact measurement, and communications, the team ensures that LEDC’s programs are well-resourced, clearly communicated, and grounded in data and lived experience. Their work helps strengthen partnerships, support sustainability, and elevate the organization’s impact across the region.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Development and Communications Officer, overseeing a Development and Giving Lead, Compliance and Special Projects Associate and Communication and Marketing Lead, this position will strengthen LEDC’s development infrastructure by leading the full grant lifecycle—from proposal development (pre-award) through reporting (post-award)—while overseeing impact evaluation systems and ensuring that the organization’s work is translated into clear, compelling, and data-driven narratives.

This role serves as a central bridge between programs, development, and communications—ensuring that LEDC’s impact is not only measured, but effectively leveraged to inform strategy, strengthen fundraising, and elevate the organization’s visibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Grant Management, Communications, and Development Operations

  • Oversee the full grant lifecycle from pre-award through post-award reporting, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Strengthen internal grant management systems, workflows, and tracking tools.
  • Strengthen internal marketing systems, workflows, and tracking tools.
  • Ensure all grant documentation and reporting materials are organized and up to date.
  • Partner with program teams to align deliverables, metrics, marketing timelines, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead and oversee proposal development processes (pre-award), ensuring high-quality, competitive, and timely submissions.
  • Drive the integration of data, impact evidence, and program insights into proposals to strengthen positioning and competitiveness.
  • Partner with program teams and leadership to shape proposal strategies, scopes of work, and measurable outcomes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and quality across development operations.
  • Serve as project management for the development team to ensure timely submission of proposals, grants, marketing tasks, and internally developed processes for successful stewardship of grants and contracts.

Impact Measurement and Evaluation

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of evaluation frameworks across LEDC programs.
  • Oversee survey infrastructure, including design, deployment, and standardization across teams.
  • Manage and evolve impact data systems (e.g., MEDIR and transition to Airtable or similar platforms)
  • Support implementation and refinement of LEDC’s Prosperity Index (internally developed tool to measures progress toward prosperity and wealth creation over time).
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality data collection practices across programs.
  • Analyze program data to generate actionable insights that inform strategy, program improvement, and fundraising.
  • Produce clear, accessible, and compelling impact reports for internal and external audiences.

Impact-Driven Storytelling and Communications Integration

  • Serve as the bridge between impact data and storytelling, ensuring that all external communications are grounded in accurate and meaningful evidence.
  • Translate insights into compelling narratives, reports, and donor-facing materials.
  • Support the development of data-informed messaging that strengthens fundraising, partnerships, and public positioning.
  • Ensure consistency of data across proposals, reports, marketing materials, and external communications.
  • Contribute to the development of impact briefs, dashboards, and visualizations that make data accessible and actionable.
  • Collaborate with program teams to set marketing, outreach, and recruitment timelines and processes.

Systems and Organizational Infrastructure

  • Serve as the internal lead for evaluation and impact-related systems, ensuring functionality, continuity, and adoption across teams.
  • Lead system improvements and transitions, including data platforms and survey tools.
  • Standardize evaluation tools, templates, and processes across programs.
  • Improve internal workflows related to data collection, reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Provide guidance to program teams on evaluation approaches and impact measurement.

Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Supervise and support staff across development operations, compliance, and communications to ensure alignment and high-quality execution.
  • Lead onboarding and training related to grant management systems, evaluation tools, and reporting processes.
  • Foster strong collaboration across development, programs, finance, and communications teams.
  • Ensure coordination across functions to support organizational priorities and deliverables.
  • Support program teams through serving as project management for to ensure collaboration on the development of proposals, reports, marketing tasks, and internally developed processes for successful stewardship of grants and contracts.

Strategy and Organizational Learning

  • Provide data-driven insights to inform organizational strategy and decision-making.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities across programs using evaluation data.
  • Support leadership in aligning funding strategies with demonstrated impact and outcomes.
  • Strengthen LEDC’s positioning as a data-driven, impact-oriented organization.

Cross-Functional Impact Integration

  • Partner with program teams to define, refine, and track meaningful outcomes and indicators.
  • Translate program data into insights that inform fundraising strategies, proposals, and communications.
  • Ensure impact data is consistently integrated into donor reporting and external messaging.
  • Support program teams in strengthening data collection practices without increasing operational burden.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to advancing economic opportunity and demonstrated sensitivity to underserved communities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public policy, international development, social sciences, evaluation, or related).
  • 6–10+ years of relevant experience in program evaluation, impact measurement, development operations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting the full grant lifecycle, including proposal development (pre-award) and reporting (post-award).
  • Strong expertise in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods data collection, analysis, and research.
  • Proven experience designing and managing evaluation frameworks, surveys, and data systems in a nonprofit, community-based, or consulting environment.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling insights and narratives for diverse audiences, including funders and stakeholders.
  • Experience integrating data and evaluation into fundraising, reporting, and communications efforts.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or providing guidance to staff and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with data platforms or tools (e.g., Airtable, survey tools, CRM systems) preferred.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, as needed, to support program delivery and community events.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to support clients, programs, events, and other office locations.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with professional proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in Spanish.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners.
    • The office environment is generally climate-controlled; however, temperatures may vary, and some individuals may find it too warm or too cool at times.
  • Hybrid Work Model: LEDC maintains a hybrid workplace model. In-office schedules vary by team, but all staff are expected to be able to report to the office any day of the week, as needed.
  • Schedule: Typical office hours are 9am-5pm, however the finalized schedule is approved by this position’s supervisor. This is a full-time, exempt role which typically requires 40 hours per week. Some travel or work outside of normal hours may be required.
  • Travel: This role requires occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and events within the DMV region. Rarely, occasional overnight travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some or all of the following may be required.:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods (e.g., sitting at a desk).

Compensation & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $105,000.00, commensurate with experience and team budget and covers all hours worked. LEDC provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
