Baltimore Small Business Resources Webinar Series

This FREE 3 session webinar will be presented by the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) in partnership with KIVA Baltimore and M&T Bank, starting this November 17th, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. EST.

Understanding the need for small business support that our local community continues to call for amid the pandemic, several local community development institutions have come together to provide new insights into what resources are available right now. 

 

Session I: Recalibrating Your Business

Tuesday, November 17th 5:30 PM EST

This webinar series will kick off with Angela Camacho, owner of Talent LLC, an accounting/consulting firm that provides a full range of accounting services for Small Business & Individuals. She is a QuickBooks Online Certificate Advisor, passionate about training business owners and their employees to properly operate QuickBooks. She has a Bachelors’ degree in Accounting and a Financial Management specialization, a Certificate in Business Administration from Georgetown University, and she is a Licensed Tax Preparer in Maryland State.

Angela will be covering an array of topics including business structure and their tax implications, business deductions and other helpful accounting principles needed to navigate this pandemic. 

 

Session II: What's Your Brand?

Tuesday, December 1st 5:30 PM EST

For our second session, Jaime Rivera from Brandgoat 84 will dive into online branding strategies and how to increase your online business presence. Jaime is a proud Latino from Puerto Rico and is passionate about Marketing, bringing 10+ years of experience managing marketing campaigns, agency teams, developing strategy, brands, and partnerships for big brands such as AT&T, Ford Motor Company, Nestle, and PepsiCo. Jaime has his own Branding Agency named Brandgoat 84, focused on adding value through good design to Small businesses owned by minorities.

 

Session III: Show Me The Money  

Tuesday, December 15th 5:30 PM EST

In our final session, a group of local bankers and community development financial representatives will talk about the small business resources available to entrepreneurs and small business owners in Baltimore. Our panelists will discuss how and when to access funding and the different sources of funding out there. Our panel includes: 

 

Detra Miller. Administrative Vice President and Regional Manager at M&T Bank, overseeing the Minority & Women Owned Business Team. She leads the team, providing advice and solutions to minority and female entrepreneurs. Her passion is helping to increase the growth and profitability while removing roadblocks for minorities and women. Detra has been with the Bank for 11 years.

 

Rosa Scharf is M&T Bank’s Vice President and Business Banker for the Greater Baltimore Market. She focuses on helping small minority and women owned businesses. Rosa has been with M&T for the past two years and has over three decades of banking experience, specifically in SBA lending.

Antonio Tabora is LEDC's SBA Loan Specialist. He has been with LEDC for two years as a loan officer and underwriter and is passionate about bringing financial solutions to the local business community. He has a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Loyola University Maryland. Antonio has actively participated in several local charities and volunteering initiatives.

 

Kaetlyn Bernal is the Kiva Program Manager at Baltimore Corps and has been serving entrepreneurs in this role for more than two years. Baltimore Corps is a nonprofit organization that enlists talent to accelerate social innovation in Baltimore through a citywide agenda for equity and racial justice.

As the Kiva Manager, Kaetlyn supports Baltimore City businesses interested in Kiva’s microloan program, which provides interest-free capital through a crowdfunding platform of over 1.7 million lenders. Kaetlyn works closely with community partners throughout Baltimore to share the mission of Kiva and Baltimore Corps and has helped in city-wide projects to promote equity in business funding throughout the entrepreneurial community. 

Currently, Kaetlyn is pursuing her Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management and Social Entrepreneurship at University of Baltimore. Kaetlyn received her bachelor’s degree in 2018 from The Johns Hopkins University with a bachelor’s degree in Public Health Studies and minors in Spanish and Psychology.
