The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is a non-profit, tax-exempt community development organization founded in 1991. LEDC’s mission is to drive the economic and social advancement of low- to moderate-income Latinos and other underserved communities by equipping them with the skills and tools to achieve financial independence and become leaders in their communities. We achieve our mission through small business development and lending, homeownership group education and individual counseling, and affordable housing preservation.

The Maryland Tenant Services Program, as part of the Housing Department, works to assist low-to-moderate income residents in achieving stable housing and self-sufficiency. 

LEDC seeks a Tenant Service Intake Coordinator to provide intake and administrative support, data entry, outreach and training support to the Tenant Services Team in DC & MD (Montgomery and Baltimore County, and Baltimore City), and ensure quality service to our clients. This is a full-time, temporary position that is anticipated to end on June 30, 2025. Please note that continuation of employment is based on grant funding and may terminate earlier than June 30, 2025, or may be extended past the anticipated end date. 

The Tenant Service Intake Coordinator will report to the Tenant Services Manager and will be responsible for the following:  

Responsibilities  

  • Answers Tenant Service Counseling Program incoming calls – DC, MD (Baltimore City, Montgomery and Baltimore County)   
  • Schedule counseling appointments and conduct reminder calls to ensure tenants attend their scheduled sessions. 
  • Have familiarity with social service programs and application process. 
  • Data entry into client management system to document and track client contact information and data related to the needs of the tenant.  
  • Direct tenants in need of emergency services (housing, utilities, and food) to the appropriate team for immediate assistance. 
  • Provide assistance with walk-ins as needed.  
  • Provide information on LEDC services and referrals to community partners.  
  • Follow up regularly and directly with clients throughout the counseling process to ensure that information is received and submitted in a timely manner and cases are tracked and documented on a regular basis.  
  • Assist with group workshops, presentations, and special events offsite and onsite.  
  • Represent LEDC in community events specific to Housing counseling  
  • Provide administrative and technical assistance related to housing counseling services to the housing counseling team and clients.  
  • Assist in completion of reports for assigned programs in a timely and efficient manner.  
  • Attending training as needed related to housing counseling.  
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure high level of service provided by the organization 

Qualifications  

  • Fluent in Spanish and English (written, spoken, and reading)  
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 2 years of commensurate work experience  
  • Customer-service oriented person with excellent interpersonal communication skills  
  • Must have friendly, patient and professional demeanor.  
  • Energetic, organized and detail-oriented team player with a commitment to high quality of work;  
  • Ability to multi-task, coordinate several projects simultaneously and prioritize deadlines.  
  • Motivated resourceful self-starter able to work independently  
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel;  
  • Familiarity with databases and information tracking, a plus;  
  • General knowledge of the housing market and policy in the metropolitan area, a plus  
  • Flexible work schedule, including ability to work evenings and weekends.  

Schedule: This role is a full-time, 40 hours/week position that requires Saturday hours and some evenings. 

Salary: The annual salary range for this position is $50,000 - $57,905 but is dependent on departmental budgets. Since this position is grant-funded, and continuation of employment is contingent upon the availability of ongoing funding. 

Benefits: As a temporary employee, this position will accrue sick time, and will be eligible for one personal day per quarter, and more!
