Start or Expand Child Care

Child CareHave you always dreamed of starting a daycare? Are you looking to expand an existing daycare center? LEDC and Tender Growth can help you.

In collaboration with local nonprofit partner Mary’s Center, LEDC started the Tender Growth initiative in 2010 to help people in the District of Columbia to start home-based or center day cares or expand existing daycares.

Since its creation, the program has connected more than 50 small business owners with financial support and technical assistance to increase the supply of available daycare and support families in the District. Qualified applicants may access up financial support from the DC Office State Superintendant of Education.

The Tender Growth initiative helps applicants to navigate the process, including access to the proper licenses and permits; strengthen their small business skills through training and technical assistance in the areas of business planning, marketing, and recordkeeping; and access to financing.
