Small Business Development

Small business success requires a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish and how you want to get there. Entrepreneurs need a variety of skills to position their small businesses for success.

LEDC's Small Business Development Department equips aspiring and established entrepreneurs with the skills and tools necessary to run and strengthen a small business.

Our staff offers eight Spanish-language trainings on diverse topics ranging from how to start your own business to how to create your own web page. The program connects advanced entrepreneurs with a one-on-one small business coaching service called Brinca on topics ranging from recordkeeping to marketing. The department also partners with local nonprofit Mary’s Center through the Tender Growth initiative to support entrepreneurs who wish to start a daycare business in the District of Columbia.

In 2012, more than 650 entrepreneurs turned to LEDC to get the support they needed to make smart business decisions affecting their financial future. Stay tuned for future industry-specific trainings on child care, cleaning, food, and construction.
