Wheaton Town HallCalling for growth with equity, the Coalition for the Fair Redevelopment of Wheaton has launched to fight for commitments to preserve the area's affordability, community services, diversity, and small businesses as part of a redevelopment agreement to transform the downtown.

As featured in the Washington Post, the Wheaton Coalition is a collection of nonprofit organizations, Wheaton small business owners, and Montgomery County residents that seek to ensure that the existing Wheaton community is able to benefit from the redevelopment. Visit http://astrongerwheaton.org/ to learn more about the Coalition. If you live in Wheaton or Montgomery County, click here to sign our petition calling for B.F. Saul and Montgomery County to sign a community benefits agreement as part of a final redevelopment agreement that could be finalized as soon as March 2012.

“Wheaton deserves a lot more than just what it has coming to it,” says LEDC Communications and Advocacy Director Ash Kosiewicz. “We want to work with the County and BF Saul to preserve Wheaton’s strengths and mitigate the negative impacts of the redevelopment so more can benefit from these new amenities in Wheaton.”
